ABOUT THE K OF C
It is the responsibility of the District Master of the Fourth Degree in the Florida District to ensure that his assemblies are functioning, growing, and serving within his district. Through this website, the District Master is providing tools of communication, administration, training, and service to his assemblies.
On February 22, 1900, the first exemplification of the Fourth Degree was held in New York City. To the three original principles of the Order: charity, unity and fraternity, the ritual added patriotism. The focus of the Fourth Degree is on this principle - an abiding love for and devotion to one's country. The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to the Knights' respective countries through active membership in local Fourth Degree groups called assemblies.
Starting at the Supreme level there is the Supreme Master and the Supreme Board of Directors. The next level of the structure is broken into provinces of which there are twenty. Each province is led by a Vice-Supreme Master. The province is then broken up into districts each of which contains a number of local Assemblies lead by a Navigator. A Master is in charge of a District and usually has a District Marshal to assist him.
Application for membership in the Fourth Degree may be made to any assembly provided the applicant is a Third Degree member in good standing, and you must be sponsored by a Sir Knight.
The Color Corps
When knighthood was in flower, knights carried the sword to defend their God, their Church, their country and their fellow man according to the code of chivalry. Today, Sir Knights wear an uniform and carry the sword to honor Christ and His apostles, especially on religious and civic occasions specified in this manual. Hence, the primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to encourage active Catholic citizenship and foster the spirit of patriotism in members and the community at large.

For most men who follow Jesus, there comes a time when duty extends beyond our own lives, beyond how we lead our families, and into how we serve our fellow man. That's what the Knights of Columbus is all about. The Patriotic Degree allows K of C members to take this one step further. "Sir Knight" is more than a title — it’s an honor.
If you are over 18 years of age; a citizen of the country in which you reside; a practical Catholic in union with the Holy See; and you are a Third Degree member in good standing, it’s time to consider joining the ranks of the Fourth Degree.
